Laura M. Kelleher
I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.
Laura M. Kelleher
Laura M. Kelleher has been representing victims since 2017 as an Associate at The Pride Law Firm. Her practice extends to include Employment Law, which she says overlaps a lot with sexual assault.
She obtained her B.A. in Sociology at the University of California, Davis. As part of her undergraduate degree, she served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in El Salvador in a remote community for 28 months.
While earning her J.D. at the University of San Francisco, she worked in the Employment Law Clinic and developed a passion for defending those mistreated in the workplace. Before joining The Pride Law Firm, she worked as an attorney for a renowned San Diego employment law firm where and honed her skills representing victims of sexual harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination and wage theft.

Get to Know Laura
Why did you choose to focus on sexual assault?
It’s so rewarding to be a part of the process when sexual assault survivors make the decision to come forward. It is a huge feat of bravery. When one woman steps forward, it blazes the trail for the next woman to come forward, too.
What is a message you would like to give sexual assault survivors who are afraid of pursuing their perpetrators in civil court?
You are not alone. A powerful way to stop your perpetrator is by coming forward, to make sure no one else is hurt by him. There are so many women who have been in your shoes and you truly have all their support. You are not alone, you are not crazy, you are not wrong. We are with you.
More About Laura
I feel a duty and responsibility to give back because I have been given so much. When I volunteered with the Peace Corps, I was inspired to see some of the most marginalized people in the world who have so little yet so much strength, joy and peace. It’s incredibly rewarding and humbling. So often, I think people who have been through the worst are some of the most joyful. They could be angry at the world, but they’re thankful instead. I see this same resiliency in a lot of our clients.
I have also been a victim of domestic violence myself. I have an advanced degree, lived in one of the most dangerous countries in the world, am independent and strong, yet it still happened to me. It was still difficult for me to get out of that relationship. I know what it’s like and how scary it can be. But we are in it together. It’s happened to so many of us.
